South Orange, NJ – Seton Hall Men’s Basketball Assistant Coach Duane Woodward was named to the 2022 Advancement of Blacks in Sports (ABIS) Men’s Basketball Assistant Coaches Watch List, the organization announced last week.

Woodward, who has enjoyed success as a college coach and professional basketball player overseas, just completed his fourth season as an assistant coach after being named to the job on July 2, 2018. His concern detail in one-on-one instruction and game planning helped lift the Pirates to two NCAA Tournament appearances and the 2020 BIG EAST Regular Season title. He is also a dedicated recruiter, focusing on New York and surrounding areas.

Woodward’s work with Seton Hall’s wings stands out, especially with Jared Roden (Baldwin, N.Y.), Rhoden went from averaging 3.4 points per game as a rookie in 2018-19 to an All-BIG EAST First Team selection as a senior.

Woodward is a member of Action Coacheswhich brought together 21 Men’s Basketball Assistant Coaches from across the BIG EAST in a shared mission to use the platform of athletics to educate and raise awareness about social injustices.
