“Without Anthony Davis, he could help the ship stay afloat”

Few approve of the LA Lakers’ offseason moves so far, especially with Russell Westbrook still on the roster. It was once reported that the Lakers opened talks with the Indiana Pacers to get Buddy Hield and Myles Turner for Westbrook.

However, this move was not very successful, as the Lakers would have been more interested in pursuing Kyrie Irving. The refusal to include a second first-round pick also stalled that negotiation.

After extending LeBron, the Lakers are now ready to trade for Kyrie. 😳 https://t.co/ODNSESiZRH

Hield has been tied to the Lakers since the 2021 offseason, but they ended up landing at Westbrook during that time. Surrounding LeBron James with adept shooters is always a good idea, but the Lakers opted to acquire a third star.

As the end of the offseason nears, many fear the Lakers don’t have a formidable team to challenge for the title. Meanwhile, ESPN analyst Marc J. Spears thinks trading for Hield and Turner will have plenty of upside. On NBA Today, Spears said:

“If you get Myles Turner, you get someone who could, he averaged seven rebounds per game last season. He’s also averaging a game and a half threes per game, he’s averaging 13.0 points. I think that Myles Turner is really helping the Lakers. If Anthony Davis is missing games, you have a quality forward/center who could fill the void.

That was the bad thing with the Lakers, once Anthony was gone, their bigs were exhausted. they had no one to fill the void. So with Anthony Davis, these two guys, I think, can be great together. Without Anthony Davis, he could help the ship stay afloat.”

There is still enough time to make changes to their roster before the new season. Unfortunately, the point guard isn’t commanding any value right now, which made things more difficult for purple and gold.

LA Lakers agree to work with Russell Westbrook if he is not traded

The Lakers are trying to trade the point guard, but there’s a chance they’ll overestimate his value, especially after the season he’s had. Teams are also unwilling to recoup his $47 million salary. The All-Star guard has opted for his player option for the 2022-23 season.

New head coach Darvin Ham has praised the former Oklahoma City guard and explained how he plans to use him. Ham’s message centered on sacrifice and responsibility.

Russ has been caught watching the ball in defense several times, which is something Ham are looking to change. It has also been reported that the coach has been allowed to bench Westbrook whenever he wants.

I’ve said it since day one, AD is the center point of the Lakers offense. I hope he lives up to expectations this coming season and gives us an MVP-caliber season. LeBron and Darvin Ham reportedly agreed that Anthony Davis should be the center point of the Lakers’ offense. 👀 https://t.co/oHaKeCLBax

Although the Lakers are still trying to use him to acquire a player who might be a better fit, they are ready to start their 2022-23 campaign with him on the roster. It should be noted that they would lead their offense through Anthony Davis.
