Taichung defends Jordan Heading signing amid SBP protests

TAICHUNG Suns defended his controversial signing of Jordan Heading after Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) signaled goalkeeper Fil-Aussie’s upcoming move to the T1 League in Taiwan.

The team released a brief statement on Sunday, saying it “has complied with all legal requirements and [the signing has been done] in accordance with the General Transfer Regulations of Fiba International Basketball. “

Heading himself is optimistic for this upcoming campaign, saying, “Super excited to be going back to Taichung and really excited to be done with the boys and start working.”

The SBP has screamed scandal over Heading’s signing, as Terrafirma’s choice in the last PBA draft Rookie currently has a live federation contract as part of the Gilas Pilipinas pool.

He signed an exclusive two-year contract to stay with the national team shortly after the draft.

The SBP has since written to Fiba and the Chinese Taipei Basketball Association about this.

The T1 League is scheduled to start on November 27, while Taichung is set to play its first game on December 11 against the Taiwan Beer Herobears.

If Heading does get the green light to play for the Suns, he will team up with former NBA stars and PBA imports Alonzo Gee and Donte Greene.
