“To Pistons fans around the world – we’ve heard you, and this is for you,” said Detroit Pistons chief commercial officer Mike Zavodsky. “The teal jerseys represent a ‘colorful’ period in Pistons basketball and NBA history. We’re thrilled to reintroduce teal to a new generation of basketball fans, and we can’t wait to see this version of Detroit Basketball dress in them.
The teal jersey represents its own unique era in Detroit Pistons history. The team has clinched playoff berths three times, with franchise stars such as Grant Hill, Jerry Stackhouse, Lindsey Hunter and Ben Wallace dressing in teal horsehead yarns.
The uniform itself is a direct replica of the original – black, yellow and red trim on a teal jersey that features the famous flaming horse head. United Wholesale Mortgage (UWM), the official Pistons jersey crest and exclusive mortgage partner, is featured prominently on the left front strap of the jersey. The team is expected to sport the teal jerseys in approximately 10 games over the coming season as part of their 2022-23 uniform rotation.
The Pistons officially unveiled the jerseys Monday night at a launch party at the Renaissance Center. Jerry Stackhouse, who began his time with the Pistons organization in the teal jersey, was on hand to showcase the Classic Edition uniform.
The Classic Edition teal jersey will be available for purchase in the weeks leading up to the 2022-23 NBA season. Today, fans can sign up for pre-order alerts to give them an exclusive pre-sale purchase window when available. As the jerseys officially become available for purchase, the Pistons and DoorDash will be teaming up to create an exclusive, limited teal-themed item for select fans.
