NBA rumours: Celtics to open 2022-23 NBA season against 76ers

The Boston Celtics would take center stage for NBA Opening Night.

According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the C’s will host the Philadelphia 76ers to open the 2022-23 season on October 18. In the west, defending NBA champion Golden State Warriors will host the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Celtics shared the 2021-22 season streak with the Sixers, 2-2. Making an opening night showdown between the Eastern Conference rivals even more intriguing is Brooklyn Nets superstar Kevin Durant, who would have both teams at the top of his list of favorite trade destinations.

Additionally, Charania reports that the C’s and Warriors will face off in NBA Finals rematches on Dec. 10 at Golden State and Jan. 19 at Boston.

The Celtics are sure to have their fair share of prime-time games during the 2022-23 campaign. It has already been announced that they will face the Milwaukee Bucks on Christmas Day.
