NBA DFS: Giannis Antetokounmpo and FanDuel’s Top Basketball Picks, DraftKings Daily Fantasy for May 9, 2022

The Grizzlies could have their backs against the walls in Game 4 of the second round of the 2022 NBA Playoffs if Ja Morant (knee; doubtful) can’t adapt. Memphis went 20-5 in the regular season without Morant but it’s not regular season anymore and the Grizz haven’t had to face a trio of scorers like Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Jordan Poole. But someone who should get more shine for Memphis if Morant can’t play is De’Anthony Melton who provided solid NBA DFS value when the star point guard was sidelined. During a nine-game streak late in the year when Morant was out, Melton averaged 17.6 points and 5.3 boards while knocking down four 3Ps per game.

But Memphis will need other players to step in as well if they hope to even this series at 2-2. Tyus Jones would be Morant’s backup at PG while Desmond Bane and Jaren Jackson Jr. should have more scoring chances. So which Grizzlies should factor into your NBA DFS strategy tonight? Before you make your NBA DFS picks for Monday, be sure to check out NBA DFS tips, player ratings, stacks and top daily fantasy basketball picks from SportsLine’s Mike McClure.

Now, McClure has turned his attention to the Monday, May 9 NBA DFS slate and has locked down his top daily fantasy basketball picks. You can only see them by going to SportsLine.

Top NBA DFS picks for Monday, May 9

For Monday, one of McClure’s top NBA DFS picks is Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo, who is listed at $11,400 on DraftKings and $11,300 on FanDuel. The two-time MVP is coming off an outstanding performance on Saturday as he dropped 42 points to go along with 12 rebounds, eight assists, two steals and two blocks. It was the most points Antetokounmpo has scored in a postseason game since scoring 50 in the 2021 NBA Finals.

In six regular and playoff games against Boston this year, Antetokounmpo has posted three double-doubles and one triple-double, the latter coming in Game 1 of this series. Boston’s No. 1 defense couldn’t fathom the Bucks superstar who is averaging 29.8 points, 10.8 rebounds, 6.7 assists and 1.3 blocks in six games against the Celtics. Antetokounmpo has scored at least 33 points in each of his last three home playoff games and he’s a must-have for Monday.

Another part of McClure’s optimal NBA DFS strategy includes Grizzlies lineup G/F Dillon Brooks ($5,500 on DraftKings, $5,000 on FanDuel). Brooks missed Game 3 through suspension and played in just three minutes in Game 2 after being sent off. But in his first seven games of the 2022 NBA playoffs, the swingman averaged 15.3 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists.

Brooks has been a booming player this postseason as he has three games with at least 23 points and four games with less than 12 points. But he will have every opportunity to thrive on Monday with Morant expected to be sidelined. During a nine-game streak late in the regular season in which Morant was out, Brooks scored 20.6 PPG. He’s only played three minutes over the past week, so he’ll be well rested and Memphis expects Brooks to come out on Monday.

How to Set Your NBA DFS Lineups for Monday, May 9

McClure is also targeting a player who could leave for massive numbers on Monday because of a dream game. This choice could be the difference between winning your tournaments and cash games or going home with nothing. You can only see who it is here.

So, who is DFS pro Mike McClure putting his NBA DFS rosters into optimal for Monday? Visit SportsLine now to see the best NBA DFS picks, rankings, tips and stacks, all from a professional DFS player who has nearly $2 million in career earnings, and find out.
