Holidays shine on busy 518 high school basketball Tuesday

As holiday shoppers searched for that perfect parking space, local high school boys and girls teams were on the hardwood courts on Tuesday. It is certainly an unsettling time for these young student-athletes as they watch major league games put games on hiatus. Many of these high school players remember their older classmates competing in empty gyms, while others didn’t play at all. Memories we would all like to forget. Tuesday was a great opportunity to get out there and enjoy the holiday hoops.

Ok, let’s start with the boys’ basketball. There were 28 games scheduled for Tuesday. Let’s look at some of the winners. Ballston Spa went to Shaker and won 62-56. Saratoga knocked out Guilderland 59-44, Niskayuna did the same against Columbia in their 63-35 win. Shenendehowa faced Albany for a 59-60 victory, as CBA beat Burt Hills 57-42. Bethlehem defeated Schenectady 56-52 and Amsterdam defeated South Glens Falls 69-60. Scotia went to Schuylerville and lost 71 for the win, while Glens Falls held off Johnstown 69-40.

Argyle went to Fort Ann and won 65-53, while Granville passed Lake George in a 55-54 thriller. LaSalle and Icabod Crane accumulated the points in LaSalle’s 85-71 victory. North Warren held Fort Edward 68-48 and Hadley-Luzerne defeated Corinth 54-32.

There were 26 games scheduled for women’s basketball in the 518. Shenendehowa passed Albany in a close game 49-45, while Averill Park sank 63 to beat Troy. Bethlehem continued to roll, dropping 80 points for the victory over Schenectady. Saratoga defeated Guilderland for the 73-46 victory, while Columbia defeated Niskayuna 55-36. Once again, big kudos to Tamarac boys basketball coach Eric Medved for raising over $ 10,000 for the American Cancer Society with the Coaches vs. Cancer played in Hudson Valley this past weekend. This is an incredible accomplishment and immense credit to the 518 high school basketball community. If you have any additional scores or photos that you would like to share with us from 518 High School Basketball, you can message me @charlievoelker on Instagram or Twitter or email [email protected] Once again, thanks to Sasha Jo in Bethlehem and Coach Medved for the photos we are using. Happy Holidays!
