On Thursday afternoon, 247Sports released its rankings for the 2025 basketball recruiting class.

A household name was No. 1 in the initial ranking release. Miami (Florida) Christopher Columbus power forward Cameron Boozer is the No. 1 rookie in the class right now.

This last name should sound familiar to you. He is the son of two-time All-Star big man Carlos Boozer.

Here’s why Boozer topped the list, according to 247Sports:

A highly skilled four man who has his father’s precocious physique and toughness, he also has soft skills and a polish that reminded our staff very much of a youngster. Paolo Banchero. He can shoot the ball from distance, is a terrific playmaker for others, and can score with a guy on his back, face up, or in transition. As good as he is offensively, Boozer is also one of the best rebounders his age to have come up through the high school ranks in quite some time and he is a winner and a certified leader.

Carlos Boozer had a solid career at Duke before playing in the NBA for 13 years.

His son could be better.
