INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Kyle Guy, 2016 Indiana Mr. Basketball with the Lawrence Central Bears and 2019 NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player for the National Champion Virginia Cavaliers, has returned to Indianapolis to promote the rich pool of basketball talent in the town this summer.
From July 12 through August 6, the Dizzy Runs Pro-AM league will feature current pros and top college talent battling it out at the Mojo Up Sports Complex at Finch Creek in Noblesville.
According to Guy, who spent time with the Miami Heat last season, about half of each team’s rosters will include players with local Indianapolis ties.
“I’m very proud of Indianapolis,” Guy said during a News 8 interview Saturday on “SportsLocker.” “I’m not sure where it comes from, everyone says where it usually comes from. I tried to take it to another level. Being in Miami, Udonis Haslem, he’s from Miami, played in Florida, played for the Heat his whole career, he’s really been a good role model for me on how to give back to the community in his city. I made a vow when I was there that as soon as I got back to Indianapolis, I would implement some things.
The Pro-Am league is free to all spectators and will also feature some of the top high schoolers in the Central Indiana region.
The league is named after Guy’s current coach, Derick “Dizzy” Grant, who is a former Harlem Globetrotter.
