BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Florida Tech Head Coach Billy Mims has announced the addition of Sam Grant for the 2021 Men’s Basketball Signing Class.

Grant, a 6-8, 200-pound 4-wing forward, heads to Melbourne, Fla after a successful prep career across the pond. The Wellingborough, England native played for the John Madejski Academy (JMA) in the Elite Academy Basketball League. (EABL).

He averaged 19 points and eight rebounds per game while shooting 63% from the field, 50% from beyond the arc and 83% on the charity strip during the 2021 season.

“I am extremely happy to join the Panthers for the next four years,” Grant said.

“The main reason I chose Florida Tech was because of Coach Mims. I think he can help me reach my end goal of playing professional basketball. He has coached at this level in Europe before. and knows what it takes to play at that level.Plus, I chose Florida Tech because I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to graduate from one of the top universities in the United States.

While being a leading player for JMA, Grant also played three seasons with the Reading Rockets in Division 1 of the England National Basketball League (NBL1), including starting 13 of the 20 games in 2021. He averages nine points and five rebounds per game, shooting 48% from the field last season.

In addition, Grant brings significant international experience to the Panthers roster, having been a member of the England U15 national team as well as the U16, U18 and U20 national teams of Great Britain. In 2019, he was selected for the All-Star 5 at the International U18 Tournament in Cherbourg.

Grant has been recognized for his impressive play over the years with caps in the 2019 Luol Deng Camp Top 50 list and in the 2021 All-Star Classic Hoops Fix.
