Mike Krzyzewski’s latest Duke basketball team now includes a second 7-footer.
Last week, Durham Ball determined from a “Happy Birthday to Mrs. K” video and speculators on Twitter that basketball head coach Duke, 42nd grade Mike Krzyzewski may have suddenly taken in a freshman. Well, as early as this weekend, the program officially confirmed the news by putting Stanley borden on the list at GoDuke.com.
According to the update, the 7-foot, 240-pounder is the same height as the team’s top sophomore contender, Marc williams, and only two pounds lighter.
Borden, who attended Istanbul International Community School in Turkey but was born in New York City, likely won’t see much action this season. No, the sparse footage shows an 18-year-old having to work on his mobility, strength and confidence before he takes a serious fight for a few minutes as the Blue Devil.
That said, the extra dose of height on the list should come in handy during practice. Plus, in the event that injuries and extreme fouling issues build up between Williams and a few stock forwards, Borden’s presence could be a godsend.
