After a loss that snapped their “winning streak,” the Detroit Pistons have a quick turnaround as they hit the road Sunday to meet the Charlotte Hornets for the third time this season.
The Pistons were at home on Saturday afternoon, playing the Boston Celtics for the third time this month. They fought hard for the majority of the game, trailing by just two at halftime and leading 82-78 going into the fourth quarter. However, the Celtics took over in the final 12 minutes, beating Detroit 35-22 and taking the win 113-104.

The big downside of Detroit’s loss is that they spoiled a stellar performance by rookie Cade Cunningham, who scored 25 points, leading the Pistons in the losing effort. It was the eighth time that the former no. 1 pick had reached 25 points in a game this season.
Detroit is now heading to Charlotte for the second time this season. The Hornets are still hanging around the Play-In picture, currently sitting ninth in the Eastern Conference with a 30-31 record. That’s because they’ve won just two of their previous 11 games, including a 125-93 win over the Toronto Raptors on Friday night.
The first time the Pistons went to Queen City, they were hammered 140-111. In their second meeting in Detroit just over two weeks ago, a similar story saw the Pistons fall 141-119.
