CHANDIGARH: It’s official. Basketball Federation of India (BFI) and 3×3 Pro Basketball League Indian Sub-continent (3BL) sign exclusive contract to promote professional 3×3 basketball in India. 3BL Season 3 dates will be March 5-27 from March 5-27, 2022 in Chandigarh.
The announcements were made earlier this week at a press conference at the JW Marriot hotel in Chandigarh. The press conference was moderated by Mr. Chander Mukhi Sharma, Secretary General – BFI, alongside Mr. Rohit Bakshi, 3BL Commissioner and Ms. Prerna Bakshi, Director – 3BL & YKBK Enterprise Pvt. Ltd. Also in attendance were Palpreet Singh Brar, senior Indian international player from Punjab, and Raspreet Sidhu, international player from Delhi.
“BFI has granted exclusive rights to 3BL to promote professional 3×3 basketball in India. 3BL will provide additional income and additional exposure to many Indian basketball athletes. Mr Sharma said. “3BL will serve as a power system for our national teams, especially those competing in the 3×3 events at the Commonwealth Games and Asian Games next year. “
“We are extremely grateful to BFI for granting the exclusive rights to promote professional 3×3 basketball in India,” said Mr. Bakshi. “3BL is committed to providing a valuable source of income for players, in addition to the exposure to play alongside and against international talent. In addition to the national recognition of BFI, 3BL is also exclusively recognized by the International Federation (FIBA), which offers multiple unique benefits to many Indian basketball players.
Indian basketball players participating in 3BL season 3 guarantee all of our players to get high FIBA 3×3 ranking points. This increases the overall FIBA ranking of the Indian national team, thus increasing India’s chances of qualifying for the Olympics. In addition, the top ranked 3BL teams also have the chance to compete in the FIBA 3×3 International Championships, which will raise the profile of Indian basketball players.
Thanks to the recognition of BFI, 3BL is becoming a key part of the Indian national basketball calendar which currently includes national championships for all age groups, as well as the Federation Cup for top club teams. Participation in 3BL will help maintain the fitness of Indian National Team members and therefore result in improved performance while representing the country in major FIBA international events.
As in the previous season, there will be 18 franchises (12 men and 6 women) vying for the championship in season 3 of 3BL. Lists of all teams will be announced after a player selection ceremony.
