Creighton Recognition

Creighton was impressive in a pair of road wins to open the 2022-23 season, beating #23 South Dakota State and South Dakota. In both games, the Bluejays trailed after the first quarter, 19-14 to the Jackrabbits and 19-12 to South Dakota.

Another similarity in each win is that the Bluejays have seen a player come forward to dominate the contest. Against the Jackrabbit it was Lauren Jensen who finished with 30 points and five assists. In victory over South Dakota Morgan Maly tied a career high with 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for his second career double-double.

Creighton shoots 48.4% from the field in two games, led by Mallory Brake 100.0% (3 out of 3) and by Jayme Horan 71.4% (5 out of 7).

Scouting Nebraska
The Huskers opened the season 2-0 with home wins over Omaha (100-36) on November 7 and over Houston Christian (79-48) on November 10. Three Nebraska players come into the game with Creighton with double-digit averages this
season, led by Allison Weidner (19.5 points per game). Joining Weidner are Isabelle Bourne (13.5 ppg) and Alexis Markowski (10.5 ppg).

In the first two games, the Huskers forced 41 turnovers (20.5 per game).

The Keys to the Game of Tuesday, November 15

  • Ball safety: The Bluejays are thin at point guard and Nebraska will try to exploit that. Last season, the Huskers forced Creighton to 17 turnovers.
  • Defending the post: Last season, Alexis Markowski scored 11 points in just 13 minutes against Creighton.
  • Three-point shooting: While Nebraska’s strength is their inside game, Creighton can be deadly from long range. Last season, the Huskers limited Creighton to 5 of 19 (26.3%).

Player to watch for Creighton
Molly Mogensen: The Creighton point guard was a catalyst against South Dakota as she tied a career high with 16 points. In the game against Nebraska last season, she finished with eight points and six rebounds, but committed four turnovers.

Fight the Top 25

Creighton is 13-41 under Jim Flanery against teams ranked and 14-46 in the program. Last season, the Bluejays went 2-3 against ranked opponents.

The Bluejays are 1-4 against Nebraska when the Huskers are ranked.
