A hook shot is when the shot is made while your body is not directly facing the basket. A bank stroke is when any stroke is made where the ball hits the backboard before heading towards the net. A free throw is an attempted shot given to a player who has been fouled and is executed at the free throw line. A lay-up is a shot taken from a short distance by a player moving towards the basket.
