A couple of folks have guessed (based on a previous entry) that I’m working on an active record class based on the the one found in Ruby on Rails but for PHP 5 and they’re right. Last week, I started coding the class again from scratch — it was getting a bit hairy (that whole round trip design thing) and I also wanted to make certain that it’s not encumbered by any work for hire clauses. As I’m implementing the new class, I’m doing a write up (it’s actually going to be between three and five entries posted here) explaining the design decisions that I made along the way and documenting the class itself. The active record class is one portion of a larger project that I’m calling chassis for now and have been getting some assistance from some good folks along the way. Look for those entries and more information to start within the next couple of days.
Kevin Smith is planning to fly out for a three day visit in February. Maybe we can make a day of that a codefest. Any solid PHP developers in (or near) Chicago that are interested should get in touch.
